Framework unveiled a suite of upgrades at its latest launch, spotlighting a new OCuLink Dev Kit that plugs into the Laptop 16’s expansion slot. The kit lets users attach off‑the‑shelf PCIe cards—GPUs, 100 GbE adapters, or capture decks—essentially turning the laptop into a desktop‑grade workstation. The prototype uses OCuLink 8i to tap native PCIe lanes.

Alongside the kit, Framework rolled out a cheaper entry‑level Laptop 16 powered by a Ryzen 5 340 mainboard, paired with a refreshed haptic trackpad that matches the 13 Pro’s feel. A new all‑in‑one keyboard and trackpad cover addresses user complaints about hair‑trapping gaps, while a blank spacer can keep the deck tidy.

The company also supplied a 10Gb Ethernet expansion module, built by Wisdpi and resold through Framework’s forums, to satisfy power users craving faster wired speeds than the current 2.5 Gb model. Though niche, the addition shows Framework’s willingness to partner with third‑party developers to fill community demands.

Finally, a new wireless keyboard and a low‑carbon‑footprint sleeve with extra pockets for spare modules round out the launch. These accessories cater to the growing demand for modularity and sustainability in the laptop market, reinforcing Framework’s niche as a repair‑friendly, user‑centric brand.
