Ford's GT Mk IV has claimed the title of quickest production car at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, setting a blistering lap time of 6 minutes, 15.997 seconds. Belgian driver Frédéric Vervisch piloted the evolution of Ford's mid-engined supercar to this historic achievement, establishing a new benchmark for performance vehicles at Germany's iconic 12.9-mile track.

The Nürburgring, known as the "Green Hell," has served as both a proving ground and public racetrack since the Great Depression. Vervisch brought significant credentials to the attempt, having previously won the 24 Hour race at the circuit in 2019 and 2022. His experience clearly translated into this record-breaking performance.

While Vervisch's time marks the fastest for a production car, it still trails Volkswagen's electric ID.R and Porsche's hybrid 919 Evo from this century. Ford can officially claim the GT Mk IV as the third-fastest car overall around the 'Ring if Stefan Bellof's 1984 qualifying time isn't counted among the official records.
