Asus Bundles ROG Xbox Ally X20 with AR Glasses for 20th‑Anniversary

Asus unveiled the ROG Xbox Ally X20 as part of a 20th‑anniversary bundle that pairs the handheld with Xreal R1 AR glasses. The glasses attach via USB and claim a 171‑inch virtual screen that follows the user’s head.

The X20’s internals mirror last year’s ROG Xbox Ally X, but the new surface upgrades feel more like a cosmetic refresh than a hardware leap. Asus has yet to set a price, but a bundle near $2,000 would place the device in a niche market.

Xreal R1 glasses retail for $850. When combined with the $1,000 price tag of the previous Ally X model, the bundled cost could push handheld gaming beyond average consumer reach. As a result, the X20 may launch as a limited edition rather than a mainstream handheld.

If Asus releases a standalone X20 later, it could find a broader audience. Currently, the hardware’s value hinges on an expensive AR accessory that limits its appeal.
