Apple has announced an extension of free satellite features for existing iPhone 14, iPhone 15, and iPhone 16 users for an additional year. The extension applies to devices activated before September 9 in countries supporting Apple's satellite services. This marks at least the third time Apple has extended free access for iPhone 14 users, originally set to expire two years after launch. iPhone 15 users also benefit from the extension, while iPhone 16 owners are included for the first time.

The satellite features include Emergency SOS, Messages, Find My, and Roadside Assistance, relying on Apple's partner Globalstar. Apple has not confirmed future pricing once the free period eventually ends.
