Japanese star Miyu Yamashita equaled the LPGA Tour's 72-hole scoring record with a dominant nine-stroke victory at the CPKC Women's Open in Edmonton. Her closing birdie on Sunday secured a four-under 66 and a 23-under total of 257 strokes, matching Sei Young Kim's 2018 mark at the Thornberry Creek LPGA Classic in Wisconsin. Yamashita led wire-to-wire after an opening 62, extending her margin to six shots by Saturday at Royal Mayfair before pushing it to a tournament-record nine. The win broke Brooke Henderson's 262 from 2019 at Magna in Ontario.

Yamashita's four LPGA titles have come in four different countries, including the Meijer LPGA Classic in Michigan this June, the AIG Women's Open in Scotland, and the Maybank Championship in Malaysia last year. Fellow Japanese player Miyuu Yamashita finished second at 14 under, with Yuka Saso third. Canadian Aphrodite Deng tied for fourth at 12 under, while amateur Rianne Malixi tied for seventh. Two-time winner Lydia Ko finished seven under, and world No. 1 Nelly Korda shot 69 for five under.

Three spots on the Solheim Cup team were decided this week, with Maja Stark, Linn Grant, and Celine Boutier qualifying. Europe captain Suzann Pettersen will announce her final three picks on Monday, August 24.
