Wakefield Trinity produced a historic upset to defeat Wigan Warriors 33-6 and advance to their first-ever Super League Grand Final. Wigan, the League Leaders Shield winners, had not lost in 16 games across all competitions and were heavy favorites. However, a ferocious Wakefield side, who had been playing in the Championship two years prior, overwhelmed the Warriors.

Tom Johnstone opened the scoring for Wakefield, while Jack Sinfield and Corey Hall crossed for tries in a seven-minute spell midway through the second half. Stand-off Jack Jowitt was clinical with four conversions and two penalties. Daryl Powell's side will face Warrington Wolves at Old Trafford next Saturday.

Wigan's hopes were dealt a blow when Adam Keighran received a yellow card for a tip-tackle on Isaiah Vagana. Powell praised his team's completion rate, stating they were 'superb' in the second half. The victory marks a fairytale season for Wakefield, who celebrated a 27-point triumph over the reigning favorites.
