Golfer Trey Mullinax has been handed a six-month ban by the PGA Tour after testing positive for a substance prohibited by the World Anti-Doping Agency. Mullinax, who secured his sole PGA Tour victory at the 2022 Barbasol Championship, stated that he used medication for a condition diagnosed in university without seeking prior approval.

This suspension marks Mullinax as the ninth golfer to face a ban since the PGA Tour implemented drug testing in 2008. The last suspension occurred in October 2023, when Byeong Hun An was penalized for using a cough syrup containing a prohibited substance.

Mullinax acknowledged his responsibility, stating, "It is my responsibility to understand and follow the PGA Tour's Anti-Doping Policy and all of its rules and regulations. I failed to do that, and that is on me." He emphasized that his lack of knowledge is not an excuse and that he never intended to gain a competitive advantage. Mullinax is eligible to return to the Tour on January 16, prior to the start of the 2027 season.
