Toby Samuel becomes just the fourth British man since 1973 to reach the Roland Garros main draw, after a qualifying run that included beating former world No 7 David Goffin. The 23-year-old picks up €87,000 for his first Grand Slam appearance, rising to €130,000 if he beats world No 7 Alex De Minaur in round one.

Samuel's road back from injury has been remarkable. A ranked as low as 2,000 in 2024, he won back-to-back hard court titles earlier this year before reaching the Madrid Challenger semi-finals on clay. British representation extends to Cam Norrie, seeded 20th, and Emma Raducanu, who opens against Solana Sierra in a tricky first-round tie.

Jannik Sinner heads into the tournament on a 29-match unbeaten streak, five Masters titles in a row, and benefits from sitting in the bottom half of the men's draw where he won't face an opponent until the final. His closest threats come from weather and Stefanos Tsitsipas in his quarter. Without Alcaraz, Sinner enters Paris as the clear favorite.
