St Helens CEO Mike Rush has stepped down after 27 years with the Super League club, citing emotional and physical exhaustion. Rush, who spent the last 13 years as CEO, held multiple roles at his hometown side, including an interim head coaching stint in 2012 where he won 18 of 25 games.

During his tenure, Rush oversaw some of St Helens' most successful periods, including four consecutive Grand Finals from 2019-2022 and the 2023 World Club Challenge victory against Penrith Panthers in Australia. The club has launched an immediate search for a new CEO, with chairman Eamonn McManus temporarily assuming the role.

In his statement, Rush acknowledged the relentless nature of professional sport, saying "Life in professional sport is 24/7. It is relentless, demanding and all-consuming." The 27-year veteran emphasized that after decades of sacrifice for both himself and his family, it was time to step away and prioritize his personal life.
