Sheffield United Face Winding-Up Hearing Over £35m Debt

Sheffield United's current owners face a winding-up hearing on August 19 after former owners United World issued a petition claiming £35m is owed from the 2024 takeover.

The dispute centers on payments allegedly due to United World, who sold the club to COH Sports Bidco. If the debt is settled, the threat of administration is removed.

Under EFL Regulation 2.1.16, co-owner Steve Rosen could face a ban if found involved in two insolvencies within 10 years. He was previously linked to Invacare's 2023 insolvency as non-executive chairman.

A potential insolvency ruling could also trigger a 12-point deduction for the club. United World stated they sought legal action to protect interests after failed negotiations with current owners.

Sources close to the current ownership criticized the move as damaging to the club, asserting Sheffield United is financially stable and focused on the new season.
