A legal battle has erupted at Sheffield United, with former owners United World filing a winding-up petition against the current ownership group, COH Sports Bidco Limited. United World, led by Saudi Arabian Prince Abdullah Bin Mosaad Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, claims they are owed over £35 million in interest and demands repayment.

United World has also questioned the legitimacy of a recent board update which identified 1919 Partners LLC as the club's parent company. They assert that COH Sports, led by businessmen Steven Rosen and Helmy Eltoukhy, has been misleading both United World and the English Football League (EFL), jeopardizing the club's stability. They aim to prevent what they call "serious wrongdoing" in the club's acquisition.

A spokesperson for 1919 Partners LLC stated the legal matter has no bearing on the club's daily operations or financial health, emphasizing their focus on on-field performance and long-term sustainability. The EFL has acknowledged the situation and requested information from involved parties, while the Independent Football Regulator is also engaging with those concerned. Sheffield United finished 13th in the Championship last season.
