Sheff Wed Sale Collapses: Bord Consortium Withdraws Bid

A consortium led by James Bord, co-owner of Dunfermline Athletic, has withdrawn its interest in purchasing Sheffield Wednesday after being granted exclusivity by administrators in December. The group had been working through a due diligence process but has now ended its pursuit of the beleaguered Championship club.

Bord and his partners Felix Romer and Abdullah Faisal Bin Jamil cited constraints on renegotiating their initial bid as a key factor in their decision. They revealed spending over £4 million to help run the club during the exclusivity period, but stated that historic mismanagement under previous owner Dejphon Chansiri meant their sizeable offer could no longer be justified.

The timing compounds Wednesday's woes, coming just days after their relegation to League One following a 2-1 defeat at Sheffield United. The club entered administration last October and now faces an uncertain future as administrators must restart the sale process before the 2026/27 season.
