Bruno Fernandes credited Michael Carrick's decision to drop him from the starting XI, stating the manager was right to discipline him following critical comments. Fernandes helped inspire Manchester United to a dramatic 3-2 Champions League win against Roma, overcoming a 2-0 deficit to end a nine-game winless run. The Portugal midfielder, crowned England's Footballer of the Year last season, scored a penalty and created an equaliser.
Fernandes was dropped by Carrick after criticising tactics during a 4-1 defeat against Como, a move he now accepts as justified. He emphasized the victory was necessary for the club and players, rejecting suggestions it could save Carrick's job despite United's worst Premier League start since 1986. Fernandes maintained his belief in the manager and staff remains unchanged despite the public disagreement.
