Mohamed Salah is set to join Turkish side Trabzonspor on a free transfer after mutually agreeing to terminate his Liverpool contract a year early. Salah ended a nine‑year spell at Anfield, cutting short the terms he had agreed in April 2025 following a difficult season that saw him dropped and publicly fall out with then‑Liverpool head coach Arne Slot.

The 34‑year‑old left as the club’s third‑highest goalscorer, netting 257 goals in 442 games and winning seven major trophies. He had long been a target for clubs in Saudi Arabia, and a £150m offer from Al Ittihad was rejected by Liverpool less than three years ago.

He is now set for a spell in the Turkish Superlig, where Trabzonspor will enter the Europa League playoffs after finishing third last season. Former Premier League defender John Curtis said the move is likely due to money, noting a rumored 17m a year, and that the club’s top players offer a challenge for a player used to the very best.
