Rafa Benitez has not ruled himself out of contention for the vacant Scotland head coach position, expressing interest in international management.

Benitez, who previously managed Liverpool and Real Madrid, is currently out of work after leaving Panathinaikos. He stated his openness to "all the good countries" that offer a chance to "achieve something." The Scottish FA is searching for a successor to Steve Clarke, who departed after Scotland's World Cup exit despite signing a new contract until 2030.

The Scottish FA aims to appoint a new coach "as soon as we can" but prioritizes finding the "right coach" before the Nations League campaign begins in September. Other candidates mentioned include Roberto Martinez, David Moyes, and Steven Naismith. The new manager will inherit a squad needing rejuvenation, with several experienced players nearing the end of their international careers and a need to develop emerging talent for future tournaments like the 2028 Euros and the 2030 World Cup.
