The Professional Footballers' Association has revealed its shortlists for both Men's and Women's Player of the Year awards. Arsenal's Premier League title success is reflected with three players - Gabriel Magalhaes, David Raya and Declan Rice - comprising half of the men's nominations. Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes joins the shortlist after winning the Football Writers Association award, while Manchester City provide Rayan Cherki and Erling Haaland.

Haaland secured his third consecutive Premier League Golden Boot with 27 league goals this season. The Norwegian striker's goal-scoring exploits have kept City competitive across multiple competitions. Arsenal's strong representation through defensive and midfield players shows their collective strength rather than relying on individual stars.

Chelsea forward Lauren James features prominently in the women's category alongside Arsenal's Alessia Russo. Bunny Shaw, the 2023/24 winner who recently signed a new four-year contract with Manchester City, returns to the nominations along with teammate Yui Hasegawa, Manchester United's Jess Park and Aston Villa's Kirsty Hanson.

The ceremony takes place Tuesday, August 25 at Manchester's Opera House. Arsenal's presence across both shortlists reflects their strong season, while Shaw's nomination despite recent contract news demonstrates her continued importance to City's plans. The PFA Player of the Year awards will crown the standout performers from a memorable campaign.
