Five years after winning Indian Wells, Cameron Norrie produced a stunning comeback to defeat third seed Alex de Minaur 5-7 7-6 (7-5) 6-1 and reach the Montreal fourth round. Trailing 7-5 5-2 and facing match point, Norrie won 11 of the next 13 games to turn the match around.

The victory lifts Norrie to No 36 in the live rankings, making him the new British No 1 ahead of Arthur Fery. The former Wimbledon semi-finalist now targets a second Masters 1000 title, with 18th seed Arthur Fils awaiting in the next round. Ben Shelton, the fifth seed and defending champion, becomes the highest seed remaining.

Norrie converted eight of 13 break points and credited his attitude: "I played every single point... happy with my attitude." Fils advanced with a 6-3 6-2 win over Mariano Navone.

In the women's draw, Iga Swiatek routed Viktorija Golubic 6-2 6-1 in 66 minutes, setting up a clash with Marta Kostyuk. Swiatek leads their head-to-head 3-1 but lost their last meeting at the French Open.
