Michael Carrick is on the brink of losing his job as Manchester United head coach following a humiliating 3-0 defeat at Old Trafford to Bournemouth. The loss leaves United just above the relegation zone, marking their worst-ever start to a Premier League season. Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher have both called for Carrick to be sacked, with Neville stating the club is a mess and Carragher saying the situation has become untenable.
Carrick led United to Champions League football last season after taking over from Ruben Amorim, but the team is now winless in their last eight matches. The defeat was compounded by the fact that captain Bruno Fernandes was dropped from the match after criticising Carrick's tactics following a 4-1 loss to Como in the Champions League. Fernandes remained on the bench for the entire game against Bournemouth, further highlighting the growing rift within the squad.
