Man City Rejects Barcelona's Low Offer for Rodri

Manchester City have knocked back an initial offer from Barcelona for Rodri that is considered far too low. Talks over a deal have therefore halted for now.

Sources in Spain say Rodri would prefer a move to Barcelona over Real Madrid. City do not want to sell Spain's World Cup‑winning captain and instead want to agree a new contract with him.

Jamie Carragher laments that a £40‑50m bid is too low, especially when City paid £60m for him. He argues keeping Rodri would be far better than letting the club lose arguably the best midfield player in world football.

Experts note Rodri’s role under Guardiola, the most complete central midfielder in the Premier League over the past five years. A replacement is unlikely; a player like Anderson could step in, but it would be a big hole to fill.
