LIV Golf Team Championship Set to Proceed

Cameron Smith expects LIV Golf's season-ending Team Championship to go ahead on August 27‑30 in Michigan, despite lingering doubt. He says the league has instructed players to prepare as though the event will happen, noting the 2023 Detroit tournament was a great experience with strong crowds. Martin Kaymer previously gave the final tournament only a 5% chance of occurring.

The breakaway league's future is uncertain after Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund confirmed it will end its funding, prompting LIV to seek alternative investors. Bryson DeChambeau led a player meeting to discuss the league's direction, with Richard Bland indicating the full picture should emerge in the next few weeks. Players remain positive and supportive of commissioner Scott O'Neil.

Smith stays optimistic but admits he may have to return to the PGA Tour if needed, saying, "If it was the only option, I think that's where everyone would want to be." He remains focused on "keeping the team alive" and hopes the league survives. Lee Westwood declined to comment on the meeting.
