Two-time major champion Martin Kaymer has said it is "highly unlikely" LIV Golf's team championship will take place this year and admitted players do not know if the circuit will exist in 2027. LIV is reeling from the withdrawal of Saudi Arabian financial backing after the Kingdom invested more than £3.75bn over three years.

CEO Scott O'Neil, appointed in January 2025, is seeking $350m (£262m) in investment to sustain the tour. The next event starts Thursday at the JCB Club in Staffordshire, followed by tournaments in New York and Indianapolis before a scheduled team championship in Michigan. Kaymer, captain of the Cleeks team, said Indianapolis is "most likely happening" but Michigan looks doubtful.

LIV suffered a further blow when the PGA Tour and DP World Tour agreed an alliance with the Asian Tour, previously a LIV partner. O'Neil had planned to incorporate Asian Tour stops into a new schedule. Kaymer was candid about 2027: "Hopefully... but if the signature is not there, then it doesn't mean anything."

Meanwhile, LIV agreed to pay $1m (£748,000) to settle a trademark infringement lawsuit brought by Ohio-based Stinger Golf.
