LIV Golf has secured funding from an outside investor, ensuring its survival beyond the current season, according to CEO Scott O'Neil. The announcement was made at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey. While the investor and the amount of funding remain undisclosed, O'Neil stated that terms are expected to be finalized in the coming weeks, with the transaction closing in September.

O'Neil revealed that a lead investor has signed an agreement, approved by the board, to anchor the funding and support the league's future. He also noted significant interest from over a dozen other parties for minority investments, aiming for a multi-partner model for stability. This comes after Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, which reportedly invested over $5 billion across five seasons, announced it would cease financing.

The league is seeking between $250 million and $300 million. The new structure will make golfers the majority equity holders, a move O'Neil described as unprecedented for a major global sports league. LIV Golf plans to host 10 events in 2027, including five team "majors" internationally and five "signature events" in the U.S. Golfers will regain their name, image, and likeness commercial rights.
