Philip Hobbs and Johnson White secured the Coral Scottish Grand National at Ayr with Kap Vert, who delivered a commanding performance in only his sixth start over fences. Ridden by Sean Houlihan, the six-year-old showed maturity beyond his experience, maintaining a strong pace throughout the race.

Midlands National winner Isaac Des Obeaux was in contention until a costly mistake early in the straight, dropping him to fourth place. Git Maker, who nearly unseated Jonathan Burke after a blunder almost a mile from home, rallied impressively to finish second, just a length and a half behind the winner. The 4-1 favorite Kim Roque completed the podium in third.

The victory earned Hobbs and White the £112,000 first prize, more than compensating for their earlier second-place finish in the Scottish Champion Hurdle with Captain Hugo. The Somerset-based team celebrated their first Scottish Grand National triumph, marking a significant achievement in their racing careers.
