Sam Twiston-Davies and Paul Nicholls reunited to win the Midlands Grand National at Uttoxeter with Isaac Des Obeaux, a 28-1 outsider part-owned by Sir Alex Ferguson. The victory marks their first major success together since Nicholls replaced Twiston-Davies as his lead jockey in 2018 when Harry Cobden took over.

Twiston-Davies, who rode for Nicholls from 2014-2018, praised the horse's performance after a tactical ride. "It took a little chivvying along to get going but Harry kind of warned me about that so I was well ready for it," he told ITV. The jockey credited Cobden's advice for helping him manage the horse's energy over the taxing four-and-a-quarter-mile course.

Isaac Des Obeaux surged clear in the final stages to win by eight lengths, overhauling long-time leader Rock My Way who finished second at 18-1. Git Maker, Grand Albert, and Bodhisattva completed the field, while pre-race favorite J'arrive De L'est was among 16 horses pulled up on soft ground.
