Jango Baie secured compensation for his Grand National runner-up finish by winning the Racing Welfare Bowl at Aintree. Nicky Henderson's seven-year-old took full advantage when Impaire Et Passe fell at the final fence, leaving him to dominate the three-mile-one-furlong race. He finished 16 lengths clear of Protektorat, ridden by Dan Skelton, who was well clear of the only other finisher, Pic D'Orhy. Henderson, whose Lulamba had unseated his rider earlier, praised jockey Nico de Boinville's resilience in bouncing back to win a Grade One after the setback.
