Jonbon delivered a heart-stopping performance on Valentine's Day, edging out Pic D'Orhy in a thrilling Ascot Chase to claim his 12th Grade One victory. The Nicky Henderson-trained star faced fierce competition from the 2024 and 2025 champion, with both horses jumping the final fence together in a nail-biting finish.

Harry Cobden pushed Pic D'Orhy hard as the 5-2 second favorite, but Nico de Boinville produced a masterful ride on the 4-9 favorite Jonbon to secure victory by a length and a half. The win adds to Jonbon's impressive career earnings of over £1.6 million, placing him second only to Kauto Star in Grade One victories over fences.

Trainer Paul Nicholls praised Pic D'Orhy's performance despite the defeat, calling it "one of his best ever races." Meanwhile, Grand Geste claimed victory in the Grand National Trial Handicap Chase at Haydock, potentially earning a £500,000 bonus if he goes on to win the Grand National at Aintree.
