Ka Ying Rising extended his winning streak to 20 with a dominant victory in the Chairman’s Sprint Prize at Sha Tin, solidifying his status as the world’s best sprinter. Despite being conserved by regular partner Zac Purton, the David Hayes-trained superstar broke the track record, finishing four and a quarter lengths ahead of rivals. Satono Reve claimed second, while Comanche Brave finished fifth of eight runners. Ka Ying’s performance marked his second consecutive win in the Hong Kong Speed Series, following triumphs in the Centenary Sprint Cup and Queen’s Silver Jubilee Cup.

Hayes praised his consistency, calling him “one of the best horses I have ever seen” and hinting at preparations for The Everest in October. Another Hong Kong legend, Romantic Warrior, secured his fourth FWD QEII Cup win, with Masquerade Ball and Sosie rounding out the podium. Docklands, ridden by Mark Zahra, finished third in the FWD Champions Mile, showcasing strong late acceleration.

The race saw strategic pacing, with My Wish and Docklands battling for position before the final furlong. Hayes emphasized Ka Ying’s “incredibly well” form, highlighting his dominance in the year of the horse.
