Joshua's July Return Delayed After Tragic Crash

Anthony Joshua is targeting a July return to boxing after surviving a fatal car crash in Nigeria during the Christmas holidays. The former heavyweight champion was involved in a road accident that killed two members of his training team, Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele, while visiting family.

Joshua had been scheduled to fight in March, with a potential bout against Tyson Fury planned afterward. However, promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed that Joshua's recovery will delay those plans. The 35-year-old had just secured a sixth-round knockout victory over Jake Paul in Miami before the accident occurred.

Hearn told The Sportsman that Joshua is not yet ready to return to training camp but is eager to get back. The focus remains on Joshua's physical recovery and finding suitable opponents for his comeback fight. Meanwhile, Fury has announced his own return to boxing, citing Joshua's tragedy as inspiration for ending his retirement and facing Arslanbek Makhmudov at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on April 11.
