Promoter Eddie Hearn says he "expects" British heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua to fight again following a fatal road accident, but admits there are no guarantees. Joshua, 36, sustained minor injuries in the Nigeria crash on 29 December that killed two close friends, Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele.

Joshua, promoted by Matchroom Boxing since his 2012 Olympic gold, returned to light training in January with a "mental strength therapy" video. His last bout was a sixth-round stoppage of Jake Paul, improving his record to 29-4. Plans for a March 2026 blockbuster with rival Tyson Fury are now on hold after Fury announced an 11 April return.

"I don't think there are any guarantees he fights again, but at the same time I expect him to," Hearn stated, noting the physical and emotional toll of the accident. Joshua remains out of the spotlight, though he attended a PFL event in Dubai. For now, his immediate future hinges on gradually intensifying training while processing his loss.
