Fury vs Joshua: Warren Says Timing Key for Heavyweight Showdown

A Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua heavyweight showdown remains possible, according to promoter Frank Warren, who emphasized that timing is the critical factor. Fury is returning to boxing in April after a year in retirement, while Joshua is recovering from a tragic car accident in Nigeria that claimed the lives of two close friends and team members.

Warren revealed there was a plan for Fury and Joshua to face each other later this year, with both fighters scheduled to have warm-up bouts first. However, Joshua's devastating accident in December put those plans on hold. The British boxing promoter noted that Joshua's physical recovery and emotional state will determine whether he continues his career.

Fury's return fight against Arslanbek Makhmudov is set for April 11 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Warren stated that if Joshua does return, he would likely need a comeback fight before potentially facing Fury. The promoter stressed that he's leaving the decision entirely to Joshua and his team, acknowledging that the wealthy heavyweight may choose to retire permanently. With the heavyweight division currently vibrant, Warren suggested that if the timing aligns, the long-awaited Fury-Joshua bout could still happen.
