Haye Pushes for Joshua vs Fury as Heavyweight Showdown Looms

Former two‑weight champion David Haye told Sky Sports that the heavyweight division’s next blockbuster must be Anthony Joshua versus Tyson Fury. Haye argued the bout would settle legacy questions, giving both fighters a chance to prove they belong to the same era. He called it “the biggest fight they could possibly have” and urged promoters to push it forward, and could revive British interest globally.

Both men lost their titles to Oleksandr Usyk – Fury after a year‑long hiatus and Joshua while recovering from a car crash that claimed two friends. Negotiations are reportedly underway, with Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn saying a contract for the Fury fight exists but a warm‑up bout may precede it. Fury’s recent 12‑round win over Arslanbek Makhmudov is seen as preparation.

Haye admitted neither fighter is in his prime, yet believes their commercial peak may still be untapped. He likened the scenario to Mayweather‑Pacquiao, suggesting the Joshua‑Fury clash could generate more revenue now than when first discussed. If the bout materialises, it would dominate the heavyweight calendar and deliver the showdown fans have long demanded.
