Craig Gordon, 43, admits he thought his World Cup chance with Scotland had passed him by, describing the tournament selection as a "fantastic feeling" after years of trying. The goalkeeper, who will be the oldest player at the World Cup, expressed delight to finally be part of something this big in his career.

Scotland qualified for the tournament for the first time since 1998 with a 4-2 win over Denmark. Gordon's international debut came in 2004 against Trinidad and Tobago, but injuries have plagued his career, including a two-year absence before joining Celtic in 2014 and missing most of last season with a shoulder injury while at Hearts.

The veteran keeper made just three league appearances this season as Hearts fell short in their title challenge. Gordon is competing with Angus Gunn for the starting position against Haiti, with manager Steve Clarke yet to indicate his choice. Gordon plans to train hard over the next few days to impress the manager before the crucial opener, with games against Morocco and Brazil to follow.
