Eugenio Chacarra is playing the "best golf of his career" as he aims to win the DP World Tour’s Race to Dubai title, holding off Patrick Reed and Rory McIlroy. The season climaxes in the Middle East with the Abu Dhabi Aldar Championship and the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai. Chacarra leads Reed by 669.27 points and McIlroy by 999.03 points.
He has won three events this season: the KLM Open, the DS Automobiles 83° Open d'Italia, and the DP World India Championship. To win the Harry Vardon Trophy, he would join Spaniards Seve Ballesteros and Jon Rahm as European No 1s. Reed needs a second-place finish or better in Abu Dhabi to stay in contention, while McIlroy seeks a record-equalling eighth title.
Casey Jarvis and Aaron Rai also remain in the top five.
