England have named a 15‑player squad for the women's Test at Lord’s against India in July. Captain Nat Sciver‑Brunt will lead, becoming the first Englishwoman to skipper a Test on the historic ground. Tamby Beaumont returns after missing the T20 World Cup, while white‑ball vice‑captain Charlie Dean is left out.

England entered the T20 World Cup unbeaten, posting an 87‑run victory over Sri Lanka and a four‑wicket win against Ireland before the Test squad was revealed. Those performances underscored the side’s depth, yet the decision to drop Dean sparked debate among pundits.

The squad blends veterans with newcomers. Heather Knight aims for her 15th Test, while Surrey’s Alice Capsey and Tilly Corteen‑Coleman add youthful fire. Lancashire’s Grace Potts, Ellie Threlkeld and Emma Lamb, plus Durham’s Mady Villiers and Warwickshire’s Issy Wong, all target debut appearances in the series.

ECB women’s cricket director Clare Connor hailed the group as “strong” and noted the rarity of Test opportunities for England’s women. With five players missing from last year’s Melbourne Test, the selection signals a fresh approach. The match will give eleven players the chance to savour Test cricket at Lord’s.
