England have left white‑ball vice‑captain Charlie Dean out of the squad for the historic Test at Lord's against India on 10 July. Dean, 25, has three Tests to his name and is slated to captain England at the T20 World Cup after Nat Sciver‑Brunt’s calf injury. The omission aims to manage Dean’s workload following her own back problem earlier in the season.

Nine members of the World Cup‑winning side remain, including Sciver‑Brunt, while Dean, batters Sophia Dunkley and Danni Wyatt‑Hodge, spinner Linsey Smith and all‑rounders Dani Gibson and Freya Kemp are excluded. Young left‑arm spinner Tilly Corteen‑Coleman and recalled all‑rounder Mady Villiers join the squad, alongside Lancashire newcomers Ellie Threlkeld and Grace Potts, signalling a shift toward a fresh Test lineup.

The selection reflects England’s summer priority on the home T20 World Cup rather than the longest format. Veteran opener Tammy Beaumont and promising batter Alice Capsey, who could debut in Tests, anchor the batting, while the pace attack features Lauren Bell and Sophie Ecclestone. With the Lord's Test framed as a historic occasion, England’s choices underline a strategic focus on limited‑overs success.
