England head coach Charlotte Edwards confirmed the 15‑player squad for the home England Women's T20 World Cup, noting the inclusion of 18‑year‑old left‑arm spinner Tilly Corteen‑Coleman as a headline pick. Veteran batter Tammy Beaumont was omitted, a decision Edwards described as “really tough.” The move sparked speculation about squad balance ahead of the tournament in England.

Beaumont, 35, entered international cricket in 2009 and sits second on England’s ODI run‑scoring list, highlighted by a Player‑of‑the‑Tournament award in the 2017 World Cup. Despite a strong WBBL season with 234 runs for Adelaide Strikers, Edwards said there is “still life left” for Beaumont, who could be recalled for the July Test at Lord’s.

Edwards also praised the emerging talent of Corteen‑Coleman, whose two‑year rise from The Hundred to the national side includes 11 wickets last season, joining left‑arm specialists Sophie Ecclestone and Linsey Smith in the spin contingent. With the squad intent on reversing a disappointing 2024 WT20I exit, England now aims to deliver a home‑soil triumph at Lord’s.

The selection also leaves out 19‑year‑old Davina Perrin, whom Edwards described as a “wonderful young talent” with a strong Hundred performance. While Perrin missed this tournament, Edwards assured she remains in England’s long‑term plans. The final squad reflects a blend of experience and youth, positioning the side for a competitive run on home ground.
