Motherwell's Scottish Premiership title ambitions took a significant hit after a 2-1 defeat to Dundee at Dens Park. Finlay Robertson scored the winning goal in the 84th minute, condemning Motherwell to only their second league loss since October and their fourth of the season. The Steelmen had controlled much of the possession but couldn't break down Dundee's defense.

Callum Slattery briefly equalized for Motherwell with a stunning 30-yard free-kick six minutes before Robertson's winner, canceling out Tony Yogane's first-half opener. Dundee goalkeeper Jon McCracken was in inspired form, making multiple crucial saves as Motherwell fired nine shots on target from their 21 attempts. The loss means Motherwell remain 10 points behind leaders Hearts and closer to fifth-placed Hibernian in the standings.

Despite dominating possession and creating numerous chances through players like Tawanda Maswanhise and Lukas Fadinger, Motherwell couldn't capitalize on their opportunities. Dundee's clinical finishing proved decisive, with Yogane converting from close range following a cross from Drey Wright. The defeat is particularly damaging as Motherwell had hoped to use their game in hand to climb the table, but instead they now face an uphill battle to challenge for the title.
