Juan Martin del Potro has backed Jack Draper to compete with the likes of Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, but emphasized the British player needs confidence in his body to reach his potential. The former Grand Slam champion, speaking about Draper's prospects, noted that while the 24-year-old has the tennis skills to excel, his body must respond to the highest intensity of matches and tournaments.

Draper, currently ranked 28th, has shown flashes of brilliance including a stunning victory over Novak Djokovic at Indian Wells, reaching the quarter-finals in his title defense. However, injuries have plagued his young career, with the left-hander recently retiring from the Barcelona Open due to a bone stress injury in his left arm. This followed almost six months on the sidelines before his return in February.

Del Potro, who battled wrist and knee injuries throughout his own career before retiring in 2022, understands the challenges Draper faces. The Argentine, nicknamed 'The Tower of Tandil,' stressed that injuries are part of the sport and emphasized the importance of building a perfect team including physical trainers, physios, and mental coaches. Draper will hope to return to form at the Mutua Madrid Open, where he reached his first ATP Masters 1000 final on clay last year.
