Celtic manager Martin O'Neill expressed his concern over potential player departures during the summer transfer window, with significant interest in midfielder Arne Engels and right-back Alistair Johnston.

West Ham United is reportedly in talks to sign Engels, though Celtic is holding out for a £25m fee, which O'Neill stated has not been met. Interest in Johnston has also grown following his World Cup performance for Canada, with O'Neill confirming contact from Everton manager David Moyes. "I was hoping as each day went past that there wouldn't be any serious interest," O'Neill admitted, noting that 14 players have already left the club.

The club has brought in forwards Camilo Duran and Kasper Hogh, the latter for a club record fee. However, O'Neill is focused on retaining his current squad as they prepare to defend their Scottish Premiership title. He acknowledged the difficulty in balancing player recruitment with preventing key players from leaving. O'Neill was also uncertain if Engels or Johnston would be available for the season opener against Dundee.
