Aston Villa manager Unai Emery confirmed ongoing talks to sign a new contract, aiming to build a "stronger" project at the club. The discussions, involving chairman Nassef Sawiris, focus on the long-term strategy beyond 2029, when Emery's current deal expires. Despite links to other clubs, Emery expressed his commitment to Villa's progress, highlighting plans for a new stand at Villa Park and increased revenue through European performance.
He emphasized the need for consistency and improvement, noting the team's five-match unbeaten run ahead of their clash with Manchester United. Emery described United as being at the same level as Barcelona, reflecting his high standards. The team recently suffered a 3-0 Champions League defeat to Barcelona, with Emery criticizing their mistakes but viewing them as part of the development process.
