West Ham are in talks with Celtic over signing midfielder Arne Engels. The 22-year-old Belgium international has two years left on his contract and also attracts interest from several Premier League clubs. Nottingham Forest saw multiple offers rejected for him on Deadline Day of the winter window.

Celtic chief executive Michael Nicholson recently stated the club's transfer activity is difficult because they compete with Championship sides for targets. Manager Martin O'Neill added at the AGM that his squad is not strong enough and needs major signings.

Celtic have since signed striker Kasper Hogh for a club-record fee from Bodo/Glimt. It remains unclear if Premier League clubs will rival West Ham for Engels. Meanwhile, Forest's top midfield target is Lucas Bergvall, but they have been unable to agree a deal with Spurs for the 20-year-old.
