Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson confirmed he spoke with co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac about further strengthening the squad ahead of Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Watford. The result leaves the Red Dragons winless in the Championship, though Danny Imray’s first goal earned a point after Luca Kjerrumgaard gave Watford the lead.

So far, £16 million ($21.8m) has been spent on recruits including Imray, Ben Whiteman, and Anthony Patterson. Asked how many players he wants to add before the Sept. 1 deadline, Parkinson said he doesn’t want to put a number on it but they are working towards several options. He noted great chats with the owners, chief executive Mike Williamson, and director Shaun Harvey.

However, Parkinson warned that the club faces competition from across Europe for the types of players they are looking to attract as they eye promotion to the Premier League. “We know what we're trying to achieve, but when you compete for players you face challenges as other clubs are trying to take them,” he said. Despite the draw, Parkinson praised the team’s character and calmness, emphasizing they are building and remain two points better off than this time last year.
