Real Madrid defender Dean Huijsen has issued an apology on Weibo for sharing offensive content targeting Asians, according to EFE reports. The 20-year-old Spanish international reposted an image with comments that Chinese users labeled racist for referencing eye shape. The post has since been deleted from Huijsen's account.

The apology, written in Chinese on Weibo, stated: 'I sincerely apologize to my Chinese friends. I previously forwarded content that included offensive messages unintentionally. It was completely unintentional, and I regret the distress caused.' Weibo, one of China's largest social media platforms, boasts over 582 million monthly active users. However, neither Real Madrid nor Huijsen have released the statement on their other social media outlets.

This incident follows a similar controversy in 2024 when a Real Madrid fan posted a song offensive to Chinese people, which the Chinese Embassy in Spain described as 'insulting to China, vulgar and of bad character.' The club condemned that video through diplomatic channels. Huijsen's apology comes amid ongoing scrutiny as Real Madrid awaits UEFA's investigation into alleged racist abuse of Vinícius Júnior by Benfica midfielder Gianluca Prestianni.
