Marcus Rashford has bid farewell to Barcelona following his loan spell, returning to Manchester United as the new Premier League season approaches. Barcelona, despite Rashford's contributions, opted against a permanent transfer, which had a clause of around €30 million ($34m). Sources indicated Barcelona was open to a lower fee or another loan, but the signings of Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi appear to have ended those possibilities.

Rashford expressed gratitude for his time at Barcelona, stating he enjoyed every moment and would cherish the memories. He is currently on holiday after representing England in the World Cup and is expected to rejoin Manchester United in early August for pre-season training. His future at United, however, remains uncertain, with reintegration into Michael Carrick's squad not guaranteed. United is reportedly seeking up to €40m ($46m) for a permanent transfer and prefers not to sell to a domestic rival.

Last season, the 28-year-old Rashford scored 14 goals and provided 14 assists in 49 appearances, helping Barcelona secure the La Liga title and the Spanish Supercopa. Barcelona's decision to withdraw from signing Rashford was attributed to the costs involved, leading them to pursue other targets like Julián Álvarez. The club has already added forwards Gordon for €70m and Adeyemi for an initial €22m ($25m).
