United undecided on Rashford as loan expiry looms

Interim manager Michael Carrick told reporters that Manchester United have not reached a verdict on Rashford’s future. The England forward is completing a season‑long loan at Barcelona after a six‑month spell at Aston Villa. Carrick stressed that while discussions are ongoing, nothing has been settled yet, and his departure follows a reported fallout with former boss Rúben Amorim, which sidelined him last season.

Rashford has contributed 12 goals and 13 assists in 43 appearances for the Catalan club, but a dip in form saw him dropped for the Champions League second leg against Atletico Madrid. His loan includes a £26m option to buy, which Barcelona appear reluctant to trigger. United reportedly will not renegotiate the fee, hoping a higher offer could emerge elsewhere.

Meanwhile Carrick confirmed United are already scouting left‑wing alternatives, with RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande and Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye named as primary targets. He said concrete talks will come when timing aligns, but no definitive recruitment plan has been set, still. As the summer window approaches, United’s squad decisions will hinge on Rashford’s loan outcome and the new signings.
