Rashford still in Barcelona's sights despite Gordon deal

Manchester United’s forward Marcus Rashford remains a target for Barcelona, who still hold a £26m option that expires on June 15. The Spanish club has signalled it will consider a new loan or a permanent deal, even after signing Anthony Gordon for £69.3m. Rashford’s 28 goal contributions last season keep him in demand for fans.

Gordon’s transfer, valued at £69.3m, does not preclude a Rashford move. United refuses to renegotiate the option fee, keeping the £26m clause intact. Barcelona can activate the clause before the summer window opens on June 15, when the transfer market will close on September 1 today.

Meanwhile, Barcelona eye Atlético Madrid striker Julian Alvarez, whose value tops £130m. Reports say the club has offered £61m plus Ferran Torres, but Atlético rejected the bid. With extra cash from a La Liga title, Barca aims to sign a winger, striker and centre‑back before the window closes.

If United and Barcelona cannot agree, Rashford may command a higher fee elsewhere, especially after his World Cup form. Should the deal fall through, he will return to Carrington, but United expects he will likely leave the club entirely. All parties plan to finalize a permanent move soon.
