Cindy Parlow Cone said conversations with Mauricio Pochettino to extend his contract are going very well, and an announcement is expected in the coming days.

Pochettino joined the U.S. Soccer Federation in 2024 on a two‑year deal that expired after the 2026 World Cup, replacing former manager Gregg Berhalter.

During the 2026 World Cup the USMNT topped Group D with wins over Australia and Paraguay, then beat Bosnia and Herzegovina in the round of 32 before falling 4‑1 to Belgium in the round of 16.

Sources report the federation wants to keep Pochettino for another four‑year cycle through the 2030 World Cup in Spain, Portugal and Morocco. Pochettino said he and his staff are reviewing the proposal and will decide in the next week.

The USMNT is set to resume action with friendlies in the September FIFA international window.
