Mason Greenwood Joins Fenerbahçe for €39m

Former Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood signed a four‑year contract with Fenerbahçe, paying €39 million for the 24-year-old striker.

After a successful spell at Marseille, where he scored 21 league goals—tied for the top spot with Ousmane Dembélé—Greenwood chose the Turkish club over a higher offer from Atlético Madrid. Atlético deemed him unreachable and felt disrespected.

Fenerbahçe, which has not won the Turkish league since 2014, will host Gornik Zabrze in the Champions League second qualifying round. Greenwood’s move comes after his 2022 suspension at Manchester United for alleged sexual assault, a case later dropped.

The transfer marks Greenwood’s third club in three years, following stints at Getafe (on loan) and Marseille. His future in England remains uncertain, though he is eligible to represent Jamaica if he chooses.
