Real Madrid have sealed the transfer of Spain left‑back Marc Cucurella from Chelsea, signing him to a six‑year contract running to 2032. The deal reportedly costs an initial €55 million, with a further €5 million in performance add‑ons. Cucurella becomes the club’s first summer acquisition, arriving just days after the Bernabéu confirmed José Mourinho’s return as head coach.

Cucurella, 27, spent the previous season as a regular left‑back for Chelsea, logging 163 appearances and helping the Blues win the UEFA Conference League and Club World Cup. Dissatisfied with Chelsea’s direction, he criticised the club’s handling of the Enzo Maresca dismissal and sought a move back to Spain, where Barcelona and Atlético Madrid had also shown interest.

The left‑back’s arrival adds depth to a Madrid defence already set to bolster with Ibrahima Konaté, Denzel Dumfries and Bernardo Silva in the coming weeks. With Mourinho keen on a more attacking full‑back, Cucurella’s pace and experience in the Premier League should help balance La Liga and Champions League ambitions. He will join Spain’s World Cup squad in Atlanta, where he remains first‑choice left‑back. His familiarity with Spanish football, having risen through La Masia, also eases his integration.
