Como's Serie A side, coached by former Arsenal and Barcelona star Fabregas, set a Champions League record with a 9-1 victory over Lens on Wednesday. The win moves them up to fourth place in the league phase table. Tasos Douvikas became just the third Greek international to score a Champions League hat-trick, while Argentine star Nico Paz provided two assists and a goal.
Lucas Da Cunha, Marc-Oliver Kempf, Mattia Liberali, Martin Baturina and Matteo Papaccioli also found the net. The nine goals ties Bayern Munich's record for a single Champions League game and takes Como's total across four games to 19. Despite the historic win, Fabregas urged his side to remain grounded and not buy into the hype.
At home in Serie A, Como are fourth on 23 points, five behind leaders Lazio. They face Inter on Sunday.
